CAUTION
If you are a recreational drone pilot and wish to fly a drone, you are advised to fly it within the restrictions stated on your OP 137 form, i.e. DO NOT fly • Over airstrips, helipads, fuel depots, private property, vehicles, highways, populous areas, sporting events, and state-owned property.
- Oversensitive and restrictive area, such as government institutions, prisons, hospitals, police stations, military barracks & parliament grounds.
- Over resorts/hotels/motels/restaurants without permission from management.
- beyond the line of sight.
You cannot fly your drones during curfew hours and in any designated lockdown/quarantine zones designated by the Government. COVID-19 restrictions apply to those organizations holding Commercial Authorisations for RPAS unless operating in direct support of an organization providing an essential service, and only when the activity directly contributes to the provision of that essential service, or is necessary for that essential service to continue. Any other activity is required to have prior approval from CAAF with a NOTAM issued at least 12-24 hours prior to the operation. You must have a record-keeping process in place to record who was involved in the drone operation, their contact details, and other relevant information to allow robust and quick tracing in the event of infection. Remember to maintain good hygiene practices. All this activity must, however, comply with, and be conducted within, COVID-19 physical distancing rules and other Ministry of Health public health guidelines. That means all participants, all crew and all passengers sticking to the COVID-19 guidelines.
You may contact the Authority on info@caaf.org.fj for clarification and further advice.
